Lysa Quealy was an absolutely incredible doula in supporting the birth of our baby. We are so fortunate in having Lysa's help in our family's wonderful experience. For starters, we live here in San Pedro where her office is, but I'm sure that she would be great wherever in the South Bay we lived. We had considered having a baby at Torrance Memorial, Little Company of Mary, and Long Beach Memorial. Ultimately we decided for a home birth. Lysa's experience was so helpful in making us feel confident that we made the right decision. As a doula, her role was just right in helping us relax and enjoy the birth to the fullest. What a beautiful experience it was! Also... the midwife we found was absolutely incredible. She helped so much in the experience by providing the medical experience necessary to ensure that things were progressing normally. We are so fortunate that we met Lysa and that such a wonderful person, who truly cares about bringing babies into this world in the best possible way, exists in this world. We give the absolute highest ratings on Lysa in helping us out! Our newborn baby Max, born yesterday, is enjoying being at home with Mommy and Daddy. He was brought into this world with a great Mommy and Daddy, who got SO MUCH SUPPORT from Lysa!

Thank you is just not enough! What would I have done without you? There is no way I would have had the labor outcome I was wanting without your help and support. I never envisioned such a difficult labor, back labor or a retained placenta. I did so much prep work for this labor and I envisioned a very different experience than what occurred. With all that being said my most important wishes:
No Medication
No C-Section
No Pitocin
No Episiotomy
No Vacuum
And even No IV Prep
These were all honored and I feel that would not have been the case without you there helping us realize our birth plan with the hospital staff. My Husband, Mother, and you were amazing. I needed each one of you and you were the glue that held this support team together. The Midwife that delivered our precious son came to me afterward and said that our Doula was fabulous and one of the better ones she has worked with…that speaks volumes. She asked for your contact information because she has patients that ask for Doula referrals and she would like to use you as a referral. Again, that speaks volumes!
On top of all that, the support you gave us leading up to the birth was wonderful. Answering all our questions and giving us some tools to help me get through the stress I was feeling leading up to labor, were all appreciated and so helpful.

I've heard about doulas before, mainly from researching the web about birthing. But I never knew how important it was to have the support of a doula until I met Lysa.
We met many times before my baby was born. She always received me with a bright smile and a warm hug. She helped me to get ready to give birth, and she was there for me if I needed her--and believe me I definitely did. She has a good predisposition, and is always willing to help.
I don't know how to stress enough how helpful it was to have Lysa's support and help during labor. She made sure I was comfortable and that my birth plan was followed.
Now that I have gone through pregnancy and labor, I think that out of all the classes I took (like Lamaze and others), what helped me the most was having Lysa with me, before, during and after giving birth.
Thank you Lysa!!! You made the best time in my life even more special.

After I found out I was pregnant, my husband and I were undecided about finding a doula for quite a while. We were not sure if we needed a doula or not. In the end, we are very glad that we had a doula, and specifically Lysa by our side through labor and delivery. We cannot imagine going through labor and delivery without Lysa...she made such a tremendous contribution to our birthing experience.
During early labor, she was available around the clock to answer questions about what I was feeling and to provide the moral support I so needed. When we checked into the hospital she was our rock and provided tremendous emotional and physical support through the epidural and IV administration, active labor, pushing and delivery. After the baby emerged, she helped us take pictures, write a birth story, and even brought much needed nourishment for my husband and myself.
Lysa partnered extremely well with my husband, the Labor & Delivery nurse, my obstetrician, and anesthesiologist. This is one of her most unique abilities that she brings to the table. She worked very well with the medical team to ensure that we had a safe and positive birthing experience. We found that she empowered my husband and I during delivery to work more effectively with the medical team. We were very impressed throughout with her professionalism and ability to make us feel supported.
We are glad we had Lysa by our side and will most certainly want her by our side if we have another child. We highly recommend Lysa without hesitation.

My name is mollie and our little one, Jake was born on March 17th 2009. I must admit, my pregnancy was easy but the situation I was in was not. My husband was deployed to Iraq for pretty much the whole pregnancy. Lysa helped me cope with that by coming to my hypnobirthing classes. As my due date approached I didn't know if he was going to be with me for the birth of our son.... but he made it home for R&R a week before a planned induction. My husband who was insistent on a hospital birth (perhaps he was scared of lack of support) now has told me that he would welcome a birth center birth for our next child with a help of a midwife and a doula. he was very impressed with how helpful Lysa was with the birthing process I wanted to have.
